Thoraldson enlisted on September 16, 1942. He died on June 24, 1944 and was placed in his casket on October 21, 1947. His remains were a 'disarticulate skeleton' as described in Section 8 of his records. He was killed in action in France and was a Private First Class in the Army's Corps of Engineers and was serving in the Second Infantry Division.
